ABOUT SOUTH COAST FINE ART
South Coast Fine Art dealers, directed by Michael Ventura, concentrate on providing clients with important works of art from the 17th through the early 20th century. We are in constant search for fine works, spanning the globe for well-known American and European artists. Every year we preview and participate in literally hundreds of private sales, art shows, gallery showings and auctions.

As private dealers we have eliminated the high overhead of a retail space and pass this savings along to our clients. In addition to value, we seek to establish long-term relationships with our clients based upon honesty, service and knowledge. We can provide the direction needed to start or expand a fine collection and offer supporting documentation (condition, provenance, valuation and artist biographies) on all of the pieces that we offer. When desired, we can also assist our clients with their framing, lighting and restoration needs.

South Coast Fine Art is committed to providing our collectors with beautiful, investment quality art. We believe you will find that we are a truly a gifted team with a unique approach to the art of finding and selling wonderful paintings. Whether you're looking for Old Master, 19th century European, American or early California paintings we can notify you of new additions
as they come available by providing us with your areas of interest on our Contact page. By providing the highest quality pieces with outstanding customer service our goal is to make the acquisition process an easy and enjoyable experience.

An example of one of our more important discoveries is a 19th century landscape by the French master Gustave Courbet. Courbet was a very influential and prolific French painter, who, with his compatriots Honore Daumier and Jean Francois Millet, founded the mid-19th century art movement called realism. Courbet's works can be found in several museums including the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, the Musée d'Orsay in Paris and Art Institute of Chicago.

Another important discovery was a studio work from the 17th century Spanish master Bartolomé Esteban Murillo. With Ribera he was the only Spanish painter who was widely known outside his own country and he was ranked by many critics amongst the greatest artists of all time. Works by Murillo are very rare and can be found at the Musée du Louvre in Paris, The State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
